I'm often asked about this topic, and to be perfectly candid it's a complicated topic--one without an easy answer. When discussing our psychic or intuitive sense, we are actually talking about a number of factors, rather than just one. Recently I had to undergo outpatient surgery (I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to surgery!). Still recovering this week, I had to make the difficult decision to cancel or reschedule my appointments for a later date. Illness is one of many factors, which can impact our psychic sense and make giving intuitive guidance a temporary challenge. Let's take a look at some of the other factors, which can help or hinder us in psychic attunement:

Positive Factors for Psychic Development:

  • Healthy diet/regular exercise - This is probably one of the more important protective factors for maintaining or developing our psychic awareness. When we are taking care of our bodies, we are taking care of the instrument, through which psychic information is conveyed by Spirit.
  • Regular spiritual practice - Some people find spiritual connection through prayer. Others find this through meditation. Still others have other means of feeling spiritually connected. I encourage you to find what works best for you and to make it a daily appointment with yourself.
  • Watching a comedic play, movie, etc. - This may sound a bit curious, but there is much spiritual power in laughter. There is much truth in the old expression, "laughter is the best medicine."
  • Caring for a beloved pet - Animals have a naturally grounding quality to their energy. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have found solace after a difficult day when my dog Katie or my cat Toby intuitively approach me, seeking my affection. Never take your furry loved ones for granted; they will love you unconditionally. They are perhaps the truest expression of God's love.
  • Discarding the "need to be 'right'" - Of all the skills I teach my mediumship students, I consider this among the most important. As humans--especially in Western society, we are taught to "question everything", to use logic and reason to solve our problems, and to approach each and every task with a scientific skepticism. While skepticism can be very useful in many areas of life, it is wholly incompatible with psychic development or mediumship. As mediums, psychics and intuitives, our task is akin to that of an interpreter: we listen to the message conveyed in one language and attempt to reconstruct it into another language. I teach my mediumship students to pay attention to the information being provided by Spirit but to disregard the need to understand or make sense of it. The message is meant for those we serve, rather than for us.

Have you ever thought your ability to change the world is minimal as one person? Are you aware that depending on your level of consciousness, you as one person have the ability to counterbalance the negativity of tens of thousands of people at a MINIMUM? Do you watch the news these days and think the world is only getting worse? Do you feel angered and outraged at what you are being shown and told?

Being emotionally manipulated by the media keeps you in lower levels of consciousness and in turn negatively impacts the positive change you could have on the world. In today's video I talk about what all the different levels of consciousness are, how they are used against us for mind control, and how very different this world could be when peo...

"Crisis"--we tend to cringe at the implied ugliness of the word. We associate the word with a myriad other, more emotionally-charged terms: tragedy, loss, grief, problem, uncertainty, hopelessness, void--the list goes on seemingly forever. But is crisis necessarily a "bad" thing?

What's the difference between a psychic and a medium? I hear this question frequently. Rather, it would be more accurate to say that I am often approached by people, who aren't entirely clear on the difference between a psychic and a medium. There are differences--and rather significant ones. To confuse things even more, psychic readings and mediumship often are confused with tarot card readings, numerology, astrology and palm reading. It's of the utmost importance, though, that we understand the differences, so we actually know for what we are searching and what to expect from a session. I consider myself a medium first and foremost but also have a high degree of psychic or intuitive ability. More truthfully, each of us possesses some d...

I'm often asked where spirit communication first began. Mediumship (that is, communication with spirits of the deceased) formally began in 1848 when the Fox sisters of Hydesville, New York first began establishing a system of communication with a spirit identified as Charles Rosna. These events gave rise to the religion of Spiritualism, which flourished from the mid-1800s through the 1920s. Although many of the teachings of Spiritualism are similar to those of other religions, the central tenet of this religion is that life continues beyond death and that mediumship provides evidence that this is so.

Although many instances of spirit communication, spiritual healing and prophecy predate Spiritualism (some can even be found in ancient r...

I write today's post with some measure of personal difficulty, for I write from a place of individual experience. It is my earnest hope and desire that the reader will find spiritual healing and a renewed sense of optimism--despite his or her personal life circumstances.

College was a very dark time for me. Like so many, I can remember feeling from a young age as though I was somehow inferior to others or abnormally different in some way I could not entirely pinpoint--that I was human but simultaneously less than human. I led a lonely life, and this only worsened when I began college. I felt alienated, depressed and utterly hopeless some days. I turned to practically anything I could find to temporarily fill this void: alcohol binges, su...

I am often asked which is better (i.e., more accurate)--a psychic reading conducted by phone or one conducted in person. It's a difficult question to answer because there are actually many factors, which can affect the accuracy of a mediumship or psychic reading. The short answer, though, is a simple "no difference."

Personally, when I am conducting a psychic reading I tend to work with my eyes closed. I do not like to know anything beforehand about a client's situation or deceased loved one. I want to be purely focused upon the images, symbols and sensations conveyed to me by Spirit and not at all distracted. For that reason I prefer to work by phone. I do however conduct some limited psychic readings in person for those clients, who ...
